Dear Mr. Michael R Wenger,

It gives me great pleasure to write this mail regarding the above subject matter that I know you hold dear and near to your heart.

Let me start by quoting from your BLOG: "I have become aware of the pain that well-meaning white Americans inflict on people of color, often without knowing it, and I have come to recognize the richness that awaits those with the courage to embrace our nation’s growing diversity. Yet, I also have come to understand how much I still have to learn about race in this country and how much I will never be able learn."

I read your BLOG about your Memoir and the excerpt from it with a great delight. And I must commend your new and well-informed attitude towards the so-called 'people of colours'!

Sir, I guess you are 71, from my own calculation? Though age is more than mere numbers, I believe you are old enough to advice and educate the 'white' community all over the world to have a rethink and a rebirth of new and good attitude towards the so-called 'black' race and the so called 'people of colours'

Now, when it comes to "how much you still need to learn about Race....", I will like to bring your attention to a few things you may want to look into. The above subject of my mail can make a book title, and I must say, I will be highly honoured, if we can co-write such book together - title can be modified!

I like to make some assertions: the term 'white', 'black' and 'yellow' races that I learnt in my Social Studies Class in Junior Secondary School (Junior High School) and that people of the world freely use today is a misnomer. As I' m growing older and wiser, I now realize that, for want of knowledge of naming the colour of the different types of skin colours that God created, we erroneously adopted 'white', 'black', and 'yellow'. These are three different colours adopted by mortal men to describe the different form of skins created by the Immortal God who has his own divine purpose for making it so! Funnily, bearing in mind that white itself is a colour, yet, the so called 'white' men refer to people of different colours as 'people of colours' I ask- is white not a colour? Are they not also 'people of colour white'? Also, is 'white' skin really white? Is it as white as snow? Is 'black' skin really back? Is it as black as coal? Is 'yellow' skin really yellow? Is it as yellow as a yellow sun or as yellow as a yellow flower? I just imagine how the 'white' person and the 'black' persons on the pictorial design of your Memoir will really look like if that's how they look in real life?

I just want to say that we have more than three types of skin colours and it is fool-hardy to try and group the world under three racial colours which results in Racism that has forever endangers our world! And this racism is a punishable crime which will not be punished by any earthly law enforcement agent but by an heavenly and divine law enforcement agent.

However since man is fond of classification and differentiation, I think the people of the world need to call a world conference and come to an intelligent conclusion of the real and right colour names of the different types of the skin colours of the whole of human race, if we must classified them!
Here is my own humble submission: the colour of your skin does not really matter to me: what matter to me is the colour of your BLOOD, the colour of your BRAIN, and the colour of you HEART! If by chance, the world's Medical Scientists can find out if the whole human race has the same colour of Blood, Brain and Heart, maybe it is time to have a rethink of our racial prejudices!

I therefore suggest that the following be ingrained into the brains of our kids from childhood in the world's Educational Curriculum:

1. NOBODY IS INFERIOR OR SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER PERSON REGARDLESS OF THE COLOUR OF THE SKIN.

2. NO SKIN COLOUR IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE OTHER.

3. NOBODY SHOULD BE JUDGED BY "THE COLOUR OF HIS/HER SKIN, BUT BY THE CONTENT OF HIS/HER CHARACTER", as Martin Luther King Jr. yearned for in U.S before he died.

4. THERE ARE MORE THAN 3 DIFFERRENT TYPES OF SKIN COLOURS IN THE WORLD, AND THE CURRENT SKIN COLOUR NAMES ARE NOT CORRECT, THEY ARE MISNOMERS!

In conclusion, I believe you can use your current position to influence the thinking of a lot of people in our world today. I pray that God will continuously give you the required courage and divine strength to do that and much more.

I sincerely look forward to reading your reply to this mail.

Best of Regards

FRANCOIS FENELON ON READING

"If the riches of the Indies, or the crowns of all the kingdoms of Europe, were laid at my feet in exchange for my love of reading, I would spurn them all"- Francois Fenelon

GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

OPPORTUNITY

“Men who are resolved to find a way for themselves will always find opportunities enough; and if they do not find them, they will make them.”

-Samuel Smiles, (1812-1904) .

“Don’t spend so much time trying to choose the perfect opportunity that you miss the right opportunity.”

- Michael Dell (1965- )

OPPORTUNITY
Opportunity is like a strip of gold
Requesting that we should take its hold
Lest it gets slip before we are old

Opportunity comes to those who are bold
Who never consider life as cold
But would rather rise tall among his fold

Opportunity leads in success road
It helps men in lifting life’s load
and prevent men under discouragement from being sold

May opportunity always our ways flow
So we may be able to grab them and glow
And thereby make our lives to grow

‘Opportunity’ poem digestion

Life presents each and every one of us with one opportunity or the other at one point or the other in our lives. The question is, ‘what are we doing with these opportunities?’  The greatest opportunity in life is the opportunity to be alive, because all other opportunities are wrapped up in this singular opportunity; as they say, ‘when there is live there is hope.’ As long as we are alive, our challenge then, is to constantly grab the opportunities that come our ways in life. I ask you, how are you making use of the gift of life? If you were asked to give account of your life today, what would you say you’ve done with your life? This reminds me of what George Bernard Shaw said. He said, ‘I think there should be a tribunal where everybody would be compelled to appear once a year to give reasons why they should be allowed to keep on living for the next year!’ If such should exist today, what would you say in front of the tribunal? Do you think what you are doing today will give them enough conviction to give you the permission to keep on living for the next year? Won’t they pronounce on you, ‘execute him/her, he/she is not making use of the opportunity of the gift of living and he/she is not contributing anything to the universe’? Are you making any impact in your little world or are you just wasting the resources of the universe? Please take time to think these things through and start making use of every opportunity that comes your way and your life will be really worth the living!

Many people complain of lack of opportunity in life. If we examine the cases of these people very well, it might well be that they do have opportunities, but, it's just that, they have never been grabbing them. Are you complaining of lack opportunity? Do not! If you just examine yourself very well now and also look around you very well, you will discover that, countless opportunities abound, beckoning to you to make use of them.
‘A wise man’ somebody once observed, ‘creates opportunity for himself where he cannot find one’. How about that? Why not create opportunity for yourself today, even if there seems to be none now!

Now, here is a little assignment for you right now:
Make a list of 10 opportunities that you have, and have  not been maximizing up until now.
Also, for each of these opportunities, write your new plan of actions to begin right now, to maximize them.

PLEASE DO NOT STOP HERE, CARRY OUT THE EXERCISE, NOW!!!

Today, I want to begin by sharing this poem, "Excellence In Our World", with you. Here we go:

EXCELLENCE IN OUR WORLD
(Dedicated to the United Nations)

Citizens of the World, in all nations and continents
the success of  everyone in everywhere is pertinent
and with mediocrity will we no longer be convenient
until excellence among us all is  made permanent

Citizens of the World, let us all be strong
Though some of us may sometimes be wrong
Yet, this one thing I  do know – it’ll not be long
We shall,  all, together, sing a new song!

Citizens of the World, we shall be made big
When the goldmine within us we dig
And wear the great wisdom of the sage like a wig
Then our lands  shall be fruitful like a fig

Citizens of the World, be bold and be brave
And let us unerringly after dignity, crave
To serve humanity before we go to the grave
And spread greatness to all and sundry like a wave
